City People Light II
Philips global campaign for beautiful cities
Philips led the industry in the late 1980’s with their innovative campaign for “city beautification” celebrating a city by night with a co-hesive lighting plan, this industry leading decision captured the imagination of architects, urban planners and politicians alike culminating in conferences, exhibitions and now famous hardback books, titled “city people light”.
The competition saw Philips as a benchmark in the field and by the time 2005 arrived it was time to re-invigorate the innovations and set alive the multi- layered campaign once again to lead the market. Phil was instrumental working inside the Philips organisation and living close to the European Headquarters for Philips outdoor lighting, Lyon, France.
“The CPL event was indeed a very big success also thanks to your visionary views..which are still vivid in my mind” Fernand Periera, Philips Lighting
One part of the new campaign was an “on-line workbook” to showcase, the philosophy, techniques, products and projects typifying successful urban lighting. Phil chose to work with the leading German graphics and programming talents of “one/one” who typically delivered real style and attention to detail in their work.
